Notes: Set during Season Seven, when Faith returns to Sunnydale.
Summary: Waves of déjà vu washed over her.
Word Count: 235
For some reason or other she had thought that things would be different when she had been in the car with Willow on the road to Sunnydale. Maybe it was because Wesley had forgiven her for what she had done to her. Or maybe it was because she wasn’t the same Faith who had last travelled this lonely stretch of road.
She had thought that this time around things would be different between her and Buffy. This time around the jealousy would be gone because Faith no longer resented the blonde Slayer nor did she think that she was second best to Buffy. And maybe this time Buffy could accept her.
And for a little bit things were different and then she had encountered Buffy in the cemetery as waves of déjà vu washed over her. It took Faith six seconds to realize that things weren’t different and they never would be no matter what she did. Buffy would always look at her with cold eyes as she judged her.
Things in Sunnydale would never be different no matter how much Faith changed. She would always feel inferior to the perfect Buffy Summers and in turn Buffy would always wait for Faith to slip up. Faith sighed as she felt the bitter resentment from before burn her stomach.
She vowed that no matter how hard Buffy was on her, this time she wouldn’t slip up.
