well, there is always taping it to the fridge......
or emailing him a link going "have you seen this ? i know YOU wouldnt be this clueless, i mean you know i do/don't have pierced ears, and i wear ____ and _____ already. do you really think most guys don't?"

My hubby knows i have pierced ears, and i dont know how anyone could miss the purple and green thing.... so he knows this.
but as a store owner i was shocked by how many men dont know if their wives have pierced ears, or what colors they wear.....

If you are buying a general type of gift certificate, it is often a good idea to add in some small personal item, like earrings, or a carved stone heart, or almost ANYthing, just to prove that this was a deliberate thought out present, and not a copout.

My DH, being a very intelligent man, likes to give me gift certificates to Border's or JoAnn's. Now, for some people a GC may indeed be a cop-out. For me, it's all the joy of getting a new book for Christmas, coupled with the joy of going into the store, GC clutched in fist, and wandering blissfully through, deciding what to get..He doesn't pick out a book for me, for the same reason I don't buy CD's for him--there is no way to find something he would like, that he doesn't already own, and he knows generally what kind of books I like, but, for example, has no clue WHICH Terry Pratchett books I need.
