Moneysavingexpert.com - it's a UK site, so the advice etc. on the main pages is geared up towards us, but the forums include things like Greenfingered MoneySaving and Old Style MoneySaving (tips on how to make do and mend, make things yourself, recipes to use up leftovers, etc.), plus the general advice and tools for budgeting, paying off loans and searching out the best deals will obviously apply, too.

Oh, plus if you buy stuff online, it's worth looking to see if you can get cash back - I get regular emails from topcashback.co.uk, but I'm sure similar US sites exist :-)

Hit their clearance pages, and you can score some REALLY good deals there. I splurged a few years ago and got something like 10 shirts/blouses and a jacket- all out of silk- for about $20-25 each. I'm still wearing them four+ years later.

cold water creek has an outlet on their webpage.. if you sign up you get notices of their sales... while most of the time they are too expensive, when "everything on the clearance page is 75% off" it starts looking good.

Crocs has a weekly rotating sale....i have gotten shoes at 7 dollars a pair with free shipping by watching it carefully.

Macy's has sale notices when you sign up... plus some speical "just memebrs" sales

Kohls will email you about sales if you have a store card, and has special extra discount days

Here in Canada we have Save.ca which gives you coupons depending where you live. :-) There are other coupon sites as well. I don't think we have anything like store cards, other than Canadian Tire.

coupons are good things...but i'll give the advice that a LOT of stores are refusing home-printed coupons because some people are printing dozens of the same coupon then trying to use them all at once. so the stores (i know kroger for one has this policy) are refusing to take *any* home-printed coupons.

nod
some do indeed refuse home printed....
SOME have a policy of "no home printed" but will accept it IF you have the entire page to show its from a registered source.

the suggestion is to visit the store webpage or even ask the company number, and have that response on print out if they say "yes but only if its from (name of program)"

also some dont take "home printed" UNLESS you have downloaded the special barcode printer, which also tracks how many times you print it and wont print more than one....

but some stores will not take them at all.

in which case making good use of the newspaper ones is even more important, as is asking the company to mail them to you. many companies will mail you copies if you email them and ask.

krogers is apparently one that downloads coupons DIRECTLY onto its loyalty card...
