i would check out coupon mom webpage, even if you JUST use the store coupons and sunday paper.... the tactics of combining sale price awareness, with coupons, can boost the value of those coupons a lot.

but in brief? remember that if you have a 1$ coupon for....imaginary cereal
and your grocery store doubles coupons on Tuesdays....obviously you should use it on a tuesday...
but you need to also bear in mind that it may mean a small box would be free! (2.00 off a box costing 1.89) but with a larger box you still pay some money (2.00 off 3.27 is 1.27).. so it actually may make financial sense to buy the smaller box for free.... however odd it looks on the surface

Unless the 1.89 box is 200g, and the 3.27 one is 500g, and the extra on the coupon is non-transferable (200g for free; versus 306g for free, with the remaining 194g you're buying then costing 1.27, if I've done my sums right) and that's the brand you'd be buying anyway, and your household will go through them in a reasonable time...

Though if it's a long time til pay day and you're not too sure how to make ends meet, then obviously getting the free stuffs and spending nothing makes sense!

I've gotten great stuff cheap here. They deliver to APO addresses as well.

Where else can you get conservative or funky glasses for no more than $20 each? My husband got his progressives from these folks and he's happy with them. They were $50!

I don't know how many people are in my local area (cincinnati) but there are several sites that I swear by.

http://blog.nickels-n-dimes.com/
This is my favorite one. Even if you don't live in the local area, she posts great web deals and lots of printable coupons.

http://www.cincysavers.com/
This is a site she works in conjunction with and they always post great tips and deals and coupons. There is a section in there called Half Price Cincy where they have gift certificates for 50% + off.

I follow the LJ community freestuff, also. I get free magazine subscriptions, free samples, gift packs and gift cards through the links they post on there ( ... )

well.... import the links from my blog (credit would be fine, but not needed) and post them on your coupon site. meanwhile why not suggest it to spotlight?

and thanks for the links.

Sadly, coupons don't seem to be as popular in the UK as in the US, which is a shame as I've heard a lot of good things about how to save with them from my USAian friends...

I love shopping late on Sundays when almost-out-of-date food is hugely reduced. I freeze lots of it and save money into the bargain :-) Bread is always discounted then, and freezes really well...

nod, i know there are a couple UK sites i found, and the first comment is a UK based site...
but yes coupons seem less popular there from what i have heard.

still shopping the "reduced" sales is always a good tactic. meat , for instance, that is just about to go over the freshness date. the store would rather get *some* money than none....
and it freezes well...

i use my crock pot to get the most out of tough vegetables and meats..... slow cooking rules for saving money!
