Oh, my. *adds to shopping list for next time I'm down in Silverdale - which may be a month or three, but still. $6. Fountain pen. Win.

in sad news, one of my old reliable Shaeffer pens turns out to have a crack in the screw on part of the pen nib. its dripping ink. sad..

OH. *that* may be what's going on with my Waterman. (Dammit.) (I love fountain pens, but don't indulge much, because then I don't really use them. Got into them as a kid with my father's, then didn't pay attention to them again until I started doing calligraphy - which I seldom do now, because 1) neuropathy = poor hand control and 2) fonts! ooh shiny! :) )

bah, its easier on me to use a fountain pen (not to do calligraphy) because of nerve damage, i find pressing down to write hurts....

but yes, it sucks for calligraphy

skisptress linked a good site in the comments (above this one) to a cheap parker vector fountain pen.. i used to use them ALL the time, they are good. and under ten bucks.

this site also sells replacement nibs for some pens....
and you MAY be able to contact waterman for a replacement nib

My favourite foutain pens have always been Pelikan.

Every other brand I have bought has pretty much leaked all over me... sigh...

I really need to find what I did with my current one. It was displaced in the moving I am sure.. it will turn up.

I am just unlucky. My Pelkan pens were from Germany and they sell them as everyday pens there as well as the expensive ones, so I think I paid about $20-30 for my last one and that was a World Expo celebratory one, rather than a normal one.

hmm so how is the pen working? i've heard they don't work so well so i figured a trusted source might aid my future purchasing!

i will be blunt, its a mediocre pen.
but its a fountain pen for cheap IN A STORE.. so at this point thats a good thing.

for the record? its really more of a calligraphy nib. if you try to use it as a "regular" fountain pen, it sucks. but if you use it as a calligraphy pen? not bad actually...
