I'm giving up white cheddar popcorn, and doing bread and water on Fridays.

since i make bread (mostly by bread machine) that one is tempting.. but i doubt it would be truly giving up much.. my home made bread is good....
still, its a thought...
i have enough trouble with remembering "oh, Friday.. no meat" so maybe going further than that would help

I'm giving up soda, eatting more fish (shrimp too!), and trying to exercise every single day. I also want to read the Bible at least twice a week.

I use to drink around 4 or 5 sodas a day. I've gone down to one or two a day (prior to Lent to make it slightly easier). I'm planning on sticking to juice and sweet tea. As long as I have my sweet tea, I'll live. :-)

I should... Mom's going to try to give up smoking (oh geeze louise!) and I know someone who's giving up sex (NOT me!).

Maybe I should try to give up sugar.

encourage your mom... even giving up late in life is better than continuing to smoke. good luck to her!

sugar? well.. now that would certainly be an exercise in self discipline.

Ouch. I hope your finger is OK. As to Lent, we'll probably do meatless Wednesdays and Fridays, and try to do evening prayer each day (except Sunday). I don't think I'm going to try to give anything up this year, though.

i was debating meatless wed and friday also... i think friday is the norm.. i have enough trouble with that because of the who;e convention schedule ...wednesdays are easier i am always at home.

I think I'm nateprentice, but I haven't been there in ages. In fact, I haven't listened to a podcast in quite a while.

When they come knocking for money, though, I'll be happy to support them.

oh my.. you have been out of touch....

they stopped doing the podcasts for two reasons..
1. they felt it was taking away from teh primay reason for the site
2. they are now doing a show. an actual show that the Diocese requested! called "the Catholics next door"

they always need money. postal rates have gone up for mailing Rosaries. i am on the auto payment through paypal. it helps keep their budget predictable.. but i think you are job hunting, yes? so that comes first..

but you could always ask for job hunting prayers on the prayer request forum.. or you could give me permission to ask for you. i have a standing prayer request for "all my friends who are job hunting"
