Your self-worth is not your weight. If you want to get fit and healthy that's fine, but remember that you won't necessarily feel better about yourself after you've achieved X weight.

Well, I know it *will* give me a confidence boost that I so badly need right now. I'm vain like that *shrugs*
Sure, it won't fix any of my other problems but at least I'll feeling good in my own skin.
It will prove to me that I can do whatever I want if I put my mind to it, which will transfer to other areas of my life.

Don't get me wrong, I've always been a big girl and I've never really cared about it. I just want to control it so it doesn't get to an unhealthy state.

Welcome to my world. If you don't mind me asking, why the biggest loser club? I'm a WW member and enjoy the fact that I can eat my own food and don't have to rely on liquid meals that some of the others seem to depend on.

Another big goal to aim for is that it's only 20ish weeks until Christmas.

Good luck in your quest!!

I dunno, seemed like a good idea at the time? :P

There are options as to whether you want to use the meal replacement products or not, so there isn't a huge push to use them. I did try their shakes and found that I was always left feeling more hungry than I was to begin with.
Because I don't cook for myself at work, I usually just keep note of the things that its suggesting me to eat and saving the ones that I like the sound of for my weeks off.

I like the Christmas idea.
Good luck to you too! :D

I agree with connikins' concern - it's good you're setting goals for yourself, but I'm also a bit worried about you setting an arbitrary goal weight to aim for.

Perhaps aim more for things like "run/swim/activity-of-choice this long/far" or "exercise this many times a week", or "try new healthier meals this many times a week"? Something that's a behaviour you can aim for, rather than focusing on a reduction in your weight as the main outcome.

I know you're smart, and it's fair enough you want to make your own decisions on how you want to feel better right now, so I hope I don't come across as concern-trolling you. Just be safe, and good luck. :)

This is me coming the the realisation that I don't feel comfortable in my own body anymore and I want to do something about it before it got too hard much harder. This is a very similar reason to the one that I had when I decided to start losing weight, though I think in my case the exact phrasing was "100kilos? Holy fucksticks! I need to do something about this ( ... )

I don't think you can actually reply with these kinds of things without sounding preachy. I'm sure as heck that my post sounded as bad.

Good luck with it!

I agree with the above. Just be sensible about it all and you will get there.

*hugs*

Also, I remember reading somewhere that if you're feeling a bit peckish, have a glass of water first. It could be that you're feeling hungry because you're dehydrated, rather than actually hungry.
