They never live as long as we'd like them to. And it's such a terrible, wrenching decision to make. So sorry, hon. :(

It really is. It never gets any easier either. We're planning on taking her to our vet this week, and getting his opinion now that the abscess has cleared up. Thank you for your kind comment.

Do you still have that sweet Maltese I saw at WriterCon? She was just precious.

Ah, Lucy! She belongs to Bloodshedbaby, not me. Although now that she and her daughter are heavily into showing dogs, she frequently blames me for setting them down that path. LOL

Oh OK! That's right! Sorry about my memory. Lucy was soooo cute! I remember she had her own stroller. :)

Gosh, it's so difficult when pets get old and start to have ailments. You must have a very small dog if she weighed only 8 lbs. healthy. I have five cats and the lightest one weighs 15 lbs. Two of them are 13 years old now and the other 3 are 7. So far they're all extremely healthy, but I've gone through losing pets many times over the years. It never gets easier.

I'm so sorry. :'(

Yes it is. All my dogs are tiny, they are Pomeranians. At her healthiest, my oldest weighed 10 lbs, so she's lost half her body weight over the years. My middle Pom weighs only 4 lbs, and my youngest weighs about 6 lbs. I'm glad all your cats are healthy, that's a blessing.

No, it never gets any easier. It's always so hard to let them go. :(

Sending along good vibes in hopes that everything goes well.

And yeah, my oldest cat is 14 and sleeping a lot.

Thank you Petzi. We're going to take her in this week, now that she's completed her run of antibiotics. We want to see what our vet's opinion is.

One wonderful thing about small dogs, and cats is that they have a much longer life span than larger dogs. Prayers that you have many more years with your fur baby.

I hope your oldest will be okay. It's hard when they have issues when they've been so healthy. {{{hugs}}}

Thank you so much. It's been hard to see her condition deteriorating. We're going to take her in to our vet this week, now that she's completed her run of antibiotics. *hugs*
