1. Griffin is so little that you could probably just get him a couple toys and then supplement it with balls of wrapping paper and he'd be happy. I'm thinking you could hold off on the insane amounts of gifts until he's old enough to actually appreciate it! And to actually know enough to write Santa a letter of the stuff he wants. Because once he wants certain things, you're gonna feel even guiltier for not going crazy. So go light now, and maybe splurge later. :)

2. The thing you said about J getting paid and you going shopping made me think about something...I'm so used to having to wait for MY paycheck, I think it'd be weird to have to wait on someone else's. Is it weird, like do you ever feel like you don't have control of your money? Or does it just feel normal now? Not that you should feel weird, but it just made me think about it. I guess when one person is working, it's just the norm to have to rely on that person's money for everything. (Even though what you do with G is soooo hard and totally deserves a paycheck ( ... )

We only got Griff a handful of stuff. He got so much for his birthday that he really doesn't have that many more things to get!

Initially it was weird not to have my own money, especially when I hadn't had G. Since having Griffin I feel like I should be paid a millionaire's salary so I don't think twice about buying (most) things. (hee hee!) It definitely takes some getting used to.

You have GOT to catch up on the OC. I'll see f I can work any magic in getting you the eps!

Yay, I'm glad it got there safely =)

We have home videos of me and my brother opening Christmas presents when I was about 4 years old. I got plenty of typical toys like Barbie, Teddy Ruxpin, Pound Puppies, etc, but in my stocking I got things like a blank cassette tape, a notepad, and other cheap stuff that's not even that cool, but you wouldn't believe how excited I got about it.

I think if I had a kid I'd be tempted to want to buy them every toy that existed too, but little kids are really easily entertained. Maybe if you try to balance the big toys with little stuff like that, he'll still have a lot to be excited about and play with, but you won't feel as much like you're spoiling him. Probably when he's this young it'll be a little harder to find stuff that's appropriate, but in a couple years he'll probably be fascinated by all kinds of things that you could give him, you know?
