I love how you've woven all this together. Heartbreaking, yet satisfying to have all these connections made, to have John handed the strength to endure hell by being given assurances about the future.

And John interacting with Castiel -- terrific!

Wheeee, thank you! I am coming to realize one of my favorite types of fics is where you can have stuff happening under the surface in the canon storyline. One of my dearest wishes for S5 is to have JDM guest star SOMEHOW so we could see some John and Castiel interaction... I suspect I shall be disappointed, but oh it would be fascinating! Thanks again and I'm glad the story worked for you!

This was just TIGHT. Breathtaking. I'm very impressed, because I suspect time travel stories are hard for most people to pull off. So many opportunities for giant gaping holes. I want to go back and watch IMTOD in light of this fic, now.

The tragedy, of course, is that Castiel basically manipulates John into not only saving Dean's life in IMToD, but also into damning Dean to becoming the man who sells his soul for Sam.
YES. Castiel POV sequel, we can haz? I would love to read it, really.

Awww, thank you! I had the hardest time with making this work, for serious, and I still feel like there are some holes big enough to drive a truck through, but the end result was pretty cool.

*flails* You know I have no Castiel voice AT ALL, right? *mumbles*

**butts into conversation**
((noooo, no gaping holes!... also, *points upward in screen* I have complete faith in you to transpose awesome Cas Characterisation as displayed above into a Cas point of view sequel fic. *Has faith at you*))

Hahaha, I utterly FAIL at getting in Castiel's head, I don't know whyyyyyy. X_X I'll keep it in mind though. Right now I have several other projects nebulously hanging over my head ;).

All the time-travel stuff on the show makes my head hurt, but this story is fantastic.

Love the way you finessed this into a canon timeline. Excellent job on a difficult task. And I LOVE this line, in particular: "Fuuuck. Angels were shit for pep talks, weren't they? LOL. Indeed, John. Indeed.

Thank you so much for reading and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm coming to realize that playing behind the scenes in canon is one of my favorite things :).

So, angels don't lie, they just convey truthful information in a context that leads you to come to completely the wrong conclusion?

Great story, but I am SO pissed with Castiel right now.

Hahaha, thank you, I'm glad you liked the story! Angels being truthful yet deliberately misleading is pretty much canon, lol. Really, I couldn't find any better way to convince John about what he had to do than to use what really (already) happened.... I had a hard time getting past my inner John voice which pretty much said: "Angels aren't real, DIE." And then he blows Castiel away with the Colt. Which, yeah.
