Hallo flisties! Last night after work I drove up to Detroit to visit my cousins, yay! My aunt and uncle made a deliiiicious dinner, followed by amaaaazing lava cakes. Some of my aunt's relatives came over because her niece is considering going to the college I just graduated from, so I told her about the place and we all talked late into the night ( Read more... )

you might have better luck if you go to whatever bank your account is at and try to get one from them.

Other than that, not entirely sure. Credit has gotten tighter. MBNA was the one that gave me a card when I was in college, but they aren't around anymore (Now, Bank of America).

But yeah, if you can't get some credit established first (and I'm not sure how long you'd have to have a card to get it established enough for good terms on a loan), you may need someone to cosign to make it doable.

Yeah, credit. I got a student Visa card through my family's bank (which is actually a credit union)... I have a limit of $1000 (I think the max is $2000) and I'm just focusing on charging like $100 a month and then paying it all off so that I have credit once I need it. I don't know allll of the specifics, like where it's offered or if it's available once you graduate from college. But you could probably go to whatever bank you're using in Michigan and ask for advice on opening your first credit card and the people would be really helpful. That's basically what I did, except I brought my mommy with me. And I didn't need a phone bill or anything.

You know what's funny, I don't have a bank in Michigan yet. :P So I think I'll make one of my search criteria that they would give me a credit card! I'm thinking about using the local credit union too. Thanks hon ♥

My first card while a student was a Capitol One Mastercard and it was good. BUT my fave card for years now is my Amazon visa. Holy crap I get gift certificates with it. I like when I get things from spending... though you have to spend like 2500 to get one, so it's also sad when it shows up, but that's okay.

Holy fuuuuuuuuck, that car is SMOKIN' *pants* If you drove up to my house in that car, I would probably throw myself over the hood, goddamn. DO WANT.

Also, your family-tiems sound so lovely! Good family and good food is like...the best combination ever :D
