Stepping down the small stairs that lead down to the grass, Asuka tried not to trip over her own sandals. Dressed in a traditional kimono that Tsuuma had bought her, she figured she might as well put on the appropriate Japanese garment for this holiday. "Stupid--!!" She lifted the robe just slightly, trying not to get dirt on it. Frowning, she wondered if anyone would approach her about her new clothes.

"He...He should've taken you with him! What kind of a man leaves his family, even if it is to fight a war?" Her shoulders drooped slightly as she shouted. Not that she could say too much against it. In a way, she was a soldier, one told herself to put her duty and pride above all else.

"There was no way he could have taken us." Tsuuma shook her head. "It was impossible. Even if he could have, we might have been hurt or killed, and then what would he have done?" She hated to think of that. Even if they were separated, all of them were alive and safe.

"How could there have been absolutely no way of him being able to bring you and his own child with him? Couldn't he have at least put you and your daughter in a safe house until everything was over?! Why was it necessary to ditch you altogether?" She had no idea of how the situation Tsuuma was describing was possible, though she felt that she was in the right. People should not discard their loved ones like...little toys they don't want to play with anymore...

Tsumma wrung her hands, thinking carefully before giving a defeated sigh. "It was not possible for him to take us because the world in which we lived was actually just a dream for him."

She looked up at the lights in the sky, the fireworks and the stars, trying to ignore the loud sounds and enjoy the sight of it. "Viral loved us. and I'm sure he still loves us. But we were just his dream."

A dream? Asuka stared at her, shocked at what she'd replied with. How could that be? It was just crazy for anyone to think they lived in a dream. "...What are you talking about!?" exclaimed the girl, somewhat panicked. "How can anyone be a part of a 'dream' of someone else's? It makes no sense!"

"It's very complicated, and I'm not sure I fully understand it myself." Tsuuma sighed, knowing that she was going to react this way. It was such a far-fetched idea that even she'd rejected it at first. But she knew it was true. "But my husband was forced into an untrue world that his mind created. My Tepplin. He created a life there where he had a family that he loved and could take care of -- something he had never been able to have in the world he came from."

Tsuuma looked over her shoulder toward the rain and smiled a little. "But someone came and woke him from that dream and brought him home to finish fighting." She wondered what Kamina was up to at the moment.

Shaking her head, she took a step away from Tsuuma. "How could someone's mind create a real world just like that? I don't understand how even you could believe something like that! If you were a part of a dream, you wouldn't be here on this train, would you?!" Huffing, she had no idea of what she was to think now.

"It's a very complicated situation. I'm afraid I don't know how to explain it further. All I can do is ask that you accept it as the truth." Tsuuma sighed, shifting uncomfortably.

"All I know is that even if it was just a dream to him, it was real to my daughter and it was real to me. My little girl is waiting for me at home and I have to be strong right now for both of us."

Clenching her fist, she walked past her, unsure of what to say or do. Usually, yelling at people to get her point across worked... This time, she found herself unable to raise her voice at the woman. Something about her was similar to--

Asuka nearly tripped over her own feet once again. "Unh!" Gritting her teeth, she continued walking away.

Tsuuma withdrew into herself a bit, not liking how upset this had made Asuka. "S-Soryu-san!" She tried to think of something to say, but a particularly loud firework interrupted her train of thought. She jumped and covered her ears with a displeased noise.
