Police Clearance?

Has anyone attempted to get a police clearance from Japan from OUTSIDE Japan? I need to get one and don't live in a city with a consulate here in Canada.

Ideas? Timeframe? Help?

don't tell anyone that you lived in Japan, you were merely travelling here?

Have you looked at the Consulate's website? I'd give them a ring and see what they tell you.

Thanks for the help - if they look at my passport it will tell them I'm not telling the truth. I asked and it doesn't seem that big a deal - I have to go to the Japanese Consulate to get fingerprinted (the one in Toronto) .. apparently it's FREE! Who would have thought.

This is just curiousity... but what would anyone need police clearance for? Cuz that sounds really suspicious to me.

Umm.. I'm a teacher. I always need a police clearance. Basically anyone who works in finance, with children, hospitals.. I think those are logical reasons to get one.

Still not seeing why. I'm a teacher too. I've never heard of anyone getting police clearance to go to or from Japan.

It's not having to do with me going to Japan - I'm moving to New Zealand. They need to know that while I spent 36 months in Japan, I didn't commit crimes.
