1.) The Aeon test is so easy, the only things to watch out for are: a.) trying to breeze through it and making careless mistakes, b.) overthinking what the correct answer might be.
2.) Japanese companies can discriminate for pretty much anything unfortunately. I've never heard of being young and petite as being a strike against anyone though.
2.) Ya, I thought it was pretty strange too, especially since it's not the first time ECC people have said that to someone. I'm around the same size as most Japanese women, though people were still surprised at how small and young looking I was just as a gaijin.
My ECC grammar test was at the end as well. I've heard of people being dismissed mid-interview if they do badly on a test taken in the middle of the process, so maybe it's best that way.
My AEON recruiter asked me some very personal questions as well- so much so that I declined their offer. ECC, not so much. Where did you interview?
Besides just those comments, my ECC interviewer also asked some really personal questions (mostly about money, and after telling us we should take their loans, ya right..). I interviewed in Toronto, you? What sort of questions did you AEON recruiter ask?
ya the whole loan thing seemed super shady, i'm not gonna fall for that.
but we'll see how desperate i am once it gets closer to graduation..
he intimated that businessmen wouldn't trust/respect me as a teacher, but i've never had a problem with that when talking about political and social issues with them, let alone when teaching...
