Used iBook

I am currently living in the outskirts of Osaka, and am going home to North America in August. Before I leave I would really like to purchase a Japanese iBook (mostly for the Japanese interface keyboard). It would have to be used now that the MacBooks have been out for a couple of years, and I don't mind because I intend for it to be my secondary ( Read more... )

I've heard the same thing, but the only used computer stores I noticed last time I was in the area seemed to exclusively carry PC. Granted, at the time I wasn't in the market, and therefore not really paying attention.

I'll have to go check it out again. Ideally, I'd like to hear from someone who has had a used computer purchasing experience over here before. ^^;;

kakaku.com?
yahoo auctions?
akiba?

Honestly for macs you can just get any regular iBook (or macbook... are you avoiding the price or the intel chip?) and buy a JP keyboard. If you don't want to install it yourself just get the Apple store folks on it.

Personally the Japanese layout drives me nuts, but I bought a MacBook Pro when they launched and just had them swap the keyboard back to US-101 before they gave it to me. It only takes them a few minutes.

Just go up to den-den town, there are SCADS of used computer shops. Just wander into any shop that has electronics in the window, head towards the back, there's usually a collection

I second (third, whatever) den-den town. Some stores have multiple floors, I was in one (forgot the name) and found used iBooks on maybe the 5th floor? Once I got past all the PCs, there they were.
