The banking system in the USA horrifies me, after I worked in a bank in Canada before moving down. The lack of security is amazing.
As a pregnant woman, I will stay away from the healthcare system as well. I promise not to complain about the $3000 I have to pay for this birth when I'd get it for free in Canada!! ;)
The banking system in Canada horrifies me after 15 years of banking in the UK. There are very few things that are more flexible and convenient in the UK, but banking is at the top of my list. (and indeed is one of the 3 ways I may have become too European to go home).
Interesting, in the USA I find that banking is very flexible and convenient, but has such high risks. I find the Canadian system more rigid, but more protected. I've never banked in the UK though ;)
once you can get the UK bank to give you an account, it's great. i needed my £14,000 from my overseas account before i could open one, as well as heaps of documents proving who i was and where i live.
