I am getting over a cold and would pay megabucks for NyQuil right now! A friend of a friend hooked me up with some Korean pills that are doing about the same thing, but that's one thing I'm missing a lot. Stuff like Tylenol and ibuprofen is no problem, but the various cold/flu preparations are definitely missed.

I'm in Korea, and I totally know what you mean. I miss a number of things: chicken sandwiches and fries from Wendy's (Japan has 'em but Korea doesn't), a tremendous selection of wine in the grocery store (I used to live on the West Coast), fresh bagels, and all that lactose-free organic crunchy-munchy tofu veggievegan stuff at Whole Foods. (I'm not a vegetarian or a vegan, but I can't do much lactose without hating life later, and I kinda groove on fake meat.) I've found a number of things here that I like, but still, you know... it's not the same thing. Fortunately, I'm in Bangkok and Hong Kong often enough to find stuff like that. The selection of Western food in Korea's supermarkets is very limited, so it's always exciting to find some new (to Korea) product on the shelves. The first time I noticed Dr Pepper, I was pretty shocked. And now I've got a craving for Pop Tarts, dammit...

Hong Kong does have more Western products than I was able to find in Japan. I am willing to pay mega bucks for proper cereal, good spices and drinks, some nice UNSWETTENED bread andcertain sweets and ice creams.

I have NO PROBLEM playing a little more for something I am craving. My friends in Canada send me Nibs and Skor bars every so often. I love them.
