[HERE have the sound of someone who woke up outside and immediately jumped to conclusions. Her voice is ragged, panic just barely contained under the raaaage.]
This some kind of a fucking joke, Shepard? Or did your pal the Illusive Man put you up to this? [The slightest of pauses, and then:] Should’ve fucking known…
Is that it? Think I’m going to

[Yeah, the splattering brains against the wall part really didn't bother her as much as it should have.]
I think you have to worry more about fucking monsters and ghosts here more though, rather than being experimented on, heeheeheehee...

[A pause on her end.] Never getting to leave... sounds like a cage.
Reply
A cage though? [She pauses, thinking on this.] I suppose it depends on your situation. Hahaha -- the funny thing is that I feel more free, on this island, than I ever did on my previous planet.
Reply
[Faintly disbelieving.] If that's how it is, then Earth must have been a shithole.
[But she's thinking, and she's thinking that... so far, the island has been better than some of the places she's been. It's not even the environment, just the people... less wary, more open. Easy prey.]

I wouldn't argue against that viewpoint though -- against Earth, I mean. The whole damned place was governed by war -- haha -- at least here I can fight for myself.

"Governed by war"? What, like krogans? [...goddamnit it's time for explanations and Jack sucks at explanations. Then again, she actually kind of likes krogans, at least in comparison to other races.] Another race. Tough ugly bastards, everything's about fighting for them. Fighting and clans and popping out babies because the other races fucked them over a few generations back.
...Strange though. Thought there wasn't anything else to the twenty-first century but pollution and corruption. And new tech. Little wars. You know, the usual shit. [Not that Jack would really know otherwise, but.]

[She was about to ask about Krogans, but stayed silent through Jack's explanation. This woman seemed to be full of confusing terms, but somehow they were easier to digest than all of the pop culture references she heard here.] Eehee...never heard of them before, but they would probably love the Earth I came from. Pollution is probably an issue, but the corruption goes hand-in-hand with war, if you ask me.

Yeah? [Jack's no stranger to war, hell, it wasn't like they were having a little scuffle with the Reapers, but the way LB phrases it... as if war was some sort of all-encompassing driving force. A whole world of war... for all she usually doesn't give a fuck, Jack's a little curious.]

Yeah -- heheh -- I'm not sure how you people run things in the future, obviously, but every soldier that enters the military is required to get nanomachines. Heeheehee -- they're pretty useful; helping your body reach the best conditions for battle, but it also chains you to the company you signed up with.
Whether you wanted to sign up with them or not.

No one gets a fucking choice, huh? [...] Sounds like Cerberus bullshit through and through.
But me, I got out.
Reply
Really? How did you do it? Heehee? Stage a coup d'état with someone else?
Reply
I killed everyone who got in my way, stole a ship, and got the hell out.
[Said with the tone of someone trying to prove something. But the rest of it, of her "uplifting escape story", the crew that found her drifting, had their way with her before selling her... that she'll keep to herself for now.]

[Everyone, though? She was in that position once too...but not with the military.]
How did you do it? Haha? Taking down everyone?

[Her voice trails off, strangely flat for all the bravado. Jack doesn't particularly like talking about her past, but another part of her wants... the world to know, even if it's just some stranger hopped up on laughing gas, wants some fucking acknowledgment for her pain, not to have it swept under the carpet by the cheerleader bitch and Cerberus, wants to pretend her past doesn't control her, even now.
...she's also paranoid and not particularly thrilled about revealing her powers to just anyone. But she's also been chatting with LB for a while now and hasn't told her to fuck off yet, which could be considered a Good Sign.]
Hey. Those nanomachines you mentioned. What did they do to you? [Clearly the most tactful way of saying you show me yours and I'll show you mine. :|b]

She hesitated at the question though. Should she be revealing her own powers? Well, this was a game of survival. It was best off if other opponents knew how strong she was, so that they wouldn't fuck with her. If they used that to their advantage, she was damned good at adapting other strategies anyway.]
Mostly enhances my combat performance -- heheheh -- puts me in sync with other soldiers from my PMC and unit. It also gives me some minor healing powers. But mostly, it's just so the people in charge can keep track of me.
Heheh -- though I wonder if that still works even here.

But she pauses to consider what LB was saying. 'Enhancing combat performance' could be military-speak for anything-- speed enhancement, bigger muscles, bigger guns, drug doping, whatever. Minor healing powers were more interesting, but it didn't sound like much. Still, if she thinks she's hot shit, there's got to be something more... Consider Jack's curiosity piqued.]
I got biotics. There's some long boring scientific explanation for why, but what's important is that I can break every bone in your body with my mind.
