I have a couple of different names through books and media, including The Phantom, King, and "a pirate not deserving of a name." In my story, I'm the first horse to win the Grand National with a female jockey. My book was first published in 1935 and my movie is preserved in the U.S. National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." I'm played by King Charles, the grandson of racing legend Man-O'-War.
I'm a paint mustang with a movie based on the legend of an American distance rider who wins a 1891 race in Arabia against pureblood horses. The pair was touted as "the world's greatest endurance horse and rider" in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show.
This Chincoteague pony stars in 5 books starting in 1947 and a movie. This runner-up for the Newbery Medal is based on a real-life pony by the same name, who's real descendants also feature in another 8 books.
