I love this poem. I actually sent it to my younger sister at one point. The defiance and resolve in the last line is excellent.

Bits of it remind me of the Rubaiyat... I love this poem. It sings to me, reminds me keenly that the "wisdom of the ages" came from living, breathing people. I love the way words from long-dead authors can stir me. :D

No one close to me has died in quite some time, so I'm okay on that front. I've just been feeling sad lately and poems concerning death are sad and thus easier for me to relate to. That's all. Thanks for asking.
