My first instinct when I hear that you're in Iraq is to ask how you are doing, but I guess that's a dumb question. It's hot, you're lonely, you want to come home? So I'll just say that I hope things aren't too bad over there, you're in my thoughts, and I'm trying not to take freedom for granted. Thanks.
I know it's almost blasphemous to suggest that this isn't a good poem, but in all honesty I don't feel it was skilfully handled. I think everything it tries to do is done to a higher standard (though in a slightly different tack) in Andrea Brady's 'Saw Fit' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RasH8QqDJl0).
Still, I respect the sentiment it's trying to get across and thank you for posting it.
actually i take that back haha. i just listened to it a few more times and it grows on you eventually. it's definitely unlike any poetry reading i've heard before though.
