I have to comment on Idol, which I admit I've lost track of in the past week or so and forgotten to tape, but David A just makes me want to gag just about every time I see him perform. I don't question his singing ability, I don't dare - I'm as discriminating about voices as a my own dog is about other dogs, friendly girl. I just cringe at his delivery. But given the dearth of young pop stars for the tweens to follow I'll bet his fan base is massive.
Syesha just strikes me as a typical young female black singer. She's certainly got pipes and presents well, but she hasn't once pleasantly surprised me or engaged me with a performance.
Much prefer David C for his song choices and style of delivery.
Something about David A.'s sincerity rings false to me, or else it's just too saccharine - I don't think it's the kid's fault, he's seventeen and clearly has a set of pipes on him. I just hope he ultimately winds up having a little more life experience to put behind those songs. Anyway, he is just never to my taste, and he's not the sort of artist I'd ever buy an album from...or cross the street to hear, really.
Syesha's really come into her own with these big Broadway-sized performances. I think she will be excellent in musical theater. I wouldn't buy her albums either.
David C. is clearly the most outstanding one left, and my favorite. I didn't like him at first, then realized I was kidding myself. =)
