It's a magic thing when both parties give each other enough quality time, however that might be, whether it's in time together, phone calls, emails/letters and such, or even in group interaction with the social circle. For the last 18 months, I have been in something that could be described as a commuter marriage. We do not sleep in the same area code most nights of the week.

The only thing that has kept us going is the knowledge that someday it will be over, and all our little adaptive techniques for stealing minutes together. Sometimes he brings me food. Sometimes I pick him up from class. We try to have lunch together once a week.

What matters is that both of us are trying.
