Where Astriid was born

I think it's so cool that I can point to exactly where Astrid was born. Since we won't be living here forever, I took a picture, for posterity.

I have pictures of where Koa was born too (and of his actual birth). I really like that. Sadly we don't live in the same house as we did when he was born, which was really sad to leave. Homebirth rocks!

I am so glad that you did this! I keep wanting to take a photo of Elliott's corner, but that's all it really is at this point- there is no tub in the corner, the rocker has moved back into place. Our photographer did photograph the tub alone though- right before I got in it- so there's that. And in the background of the day-after photographs you can see the tub with a tarp draped over. I guess we have photographic evidence of The Place He Was Born...

In the week before E's birth we had entertained the idea of moving away and I told Kevin, this house is going to change for you after a baby has been born here. I don't think he really understood. And then Elliott was born and Kevin admitted he was in love not with the whole house, but with our bedroom, with that corner. It'd be next to impossible to leave now- now that such a defining moment of our life was created right here.

I took this picture just the other day. There were old sheets and chux pads on the floor (because I was draped over the couch seats with my ass pointing toward the viewer) and Astrid was born more on the floor than the couch.

But yeah, the house has far more meaning now. That room is less the Living Room in some formal sense and is ever more the Family Room. The cat box is there (because there is NO other place for it, yeesh), it's the main play room, and now Astrid was born there. Love it.
