This is fairly amusing:

I'm not sure what's changed, but for me the show has lost a lot of its luster this season. It could just be a trick of memory, but it seem preachier/more obvious with The Lesson each week etc., more labored. The whole Karofsky plot seems very clumsy/awkward too. I had never watched the show, but I heard they were doing a Rocky Horror episode a while back. I loved Rocky Horror and went to the live screenings hundreds of times back in the day. So I watched the show that week, and I thought it was terrible. Never wasted my time with it since.

I think there is a small number of plots that work with a mash-up/mega-mix number. My guess is that number is around 8.

I'm with you. My wife and I have about five backlogged on TiVo and are only now getting to them. I'm mostly saying "meh" with occasional flashes of brilliance.
