I suspect that Mr. Samuel S. Cat has been up to no good. he keeps disappearing down in the basement. last time he did that we assumed he was chasing mice. While Matt changed the oil in my car today I dug up some catnip at Gramp's house. They have it growing wild everywhere and I've been meaning to help myself to it for months. Apparently little cotton tailed bunnies can fit through 2 inch chicken wire. Had I realized this sooner I would have used smaller for my fence. I keep scaring one out of the garden, although I can't tell for sure what it's eating. I know it's feasting with abandon on beans in the smaller garden (which has no fence). I found a dead mouse today! Actually it looked more like a vole or maybe a mole or some sort. Whatever it was it was dead next to the kitty litter pan in the basement which means that it was killed by a kitty! The cats love chasing things. Not mice of course, they prefer bits of string and crumpled up paper. This morning after half and hour of watching them run in circles while I dragged the string around the hassock I came up with a better idea. The poor kitties have ear mites. The kittens both had a mild case when we took them to the vet the first time. We gave them medication, and they kind of cleared up a bit, but never quite went away. When we got Sparrow she had a bad case and so I ordered more of the same medication online and have been giving it to both cats. Sparrow is small ( Read more... )

We're again a two cat family. We found a very nice cat shelter in Lake George with a variety of cute kitties. It was hard to pick one, but I really like the one we got. Hexam got killed by a car the night before last. Dumbass ran out the door just as I was about to go to bed and shutting things up for the night. I stayed up til 11:30 trying to call him back in, but finally went to bed.
