Book meme nicked from kradical.

The BBC believes that most people will have only read 6 of the 100 books here. ( How do your reading habits stack up? )

only a handful for me- and because they were required reading for high school English class (many many moons ago).

I have seen many movies that are from these books, but I guess that doesn't count does it? ;)

Most of those "classics" are ones I had to read in English class. On my own I'd hardly be likely to read Tolstoy. ;-)

Oooh. That was fun. I've read 46. And I own even more of them just waiting for me to read them.

I think none of my friends are "normal". Who'd want to be normal?

Normal is boring, that's for sure. :-)

How are you sweetie? It's good to see you around!

*hugs*

Oh, meanie. ;-)

I've read 57. What amazes me, though, is how many of them I read before I was 18. By choice, this is; only 2 or 3 were read in school. I already knew that I'd spent my teenage years reading classics, but I hadn't realised quite how much.

Well, you can have a cookie anyway. :-)

Most of the "classics" on that list are ones I had to read in either high school or college. For instance, on my own I certainly would never have picked up Anna Karenina. ;-)

(x) Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck (most of it...it was high school English class and I hated it.)

OMG ME TOO. I know it's a classic and everyone loves it but I just hated it. Maybe I'd like it more now....and yeah read a lot off those books, too.

BTW, that's Mulder :)

That was the first book I ever read that I resorted to the Cliffs Notes for. I simply couldn't make myself finish it.

Cookies for you! :-)

Oh, I read it, the only book I've never been able to get through no matter how hard I tried was portrait of the artist as a young man.

For Grapes of Wrath, I had this teacher who made me do (I think it may have been make up work, I can't' remember now) a chapter by chapter summary and then what it meant to the overall story/themes. Hated.

I remember having this debate with her about the ending of the book, she saw it as hopeful I just was like are you kidding me?
