Okay, item one: the Machine of Death 2 short story has been submitted. Ten minutes before the deadline, but what-the-heck ever, it's my first finished and submitted-for-anything piece of original writing since my BA. It's all good. I can rest happy now

I didn't get to edit the end as much as I wanted, but I think if I let it sit for a few days I'll be ready to put it up somewhere for anyone that wants to read it. (-:
(I really need some appropriate party gifs.)

I WANT TO READ IT! Ooh, me me!
Party gifs are essential, I find: otherwise it can be hard to convey my enthusiasm through the internets without resorting to excessive amounts of capslock, which I have been told becomes a bit tedious. ;)
As regards your other comment, oh, I can just picture the hipster tree line you're talking about! I tend to position myself well ahead of it, amongst the people who want to bounce up and down giddily while singing along but would rather not have a crowd-surfer dumped on their heads. :P (I think I've only been to one or two shows with a proper mosh pit, and all I can say is: NO THANK YOU! Scary.)

At normal concerts I usually end up well inside of it, but at Pitchfork if you want to see things on more than one stage, the "curious but receptive" line is about as close as you can get without being really annoying (and there are plenty of people who go for really annoying, including one bottle-blonde girl who was wearing almost nothing and was smeared with body glitter who nearly pushed me over on her way to get close to Curren$y).
I've only been to one show with a proper mosh pit (and it was back in 2004), but that's because I mostly go to shows that are populated by hipsters, and they're too cool to even move around most of the time. That and I'm into music that tends to be a bit too fluffy or folky for the moshing sorts. (-:

First, thanks for introducing me to Tune-Yards! (Still not bothering with the wonky capitalization, though.) I am all about her crazy/fun style of music. Also: please to have Bird-Brains??? :D
As an ex-smoker, I am all about the secondhand experience. I know it bothers other people, but I just love to stand in the middle of a nice, thick cloud of tobacco smoke and soak it in. (I have very few vices left, so I must resort to getting my fixes vicariously.)
I'm always sad to hear that people I'm desperate to see in person (like Das Racist) aren't as fun as I think they're going to be. :( On the other hand, it does make me feel less bad about missing them in Detroit recently.
I want to see Neko Case! Yes, yes, her voice is amazing. It would be great to attend a proper show.
Animal Collective. And I know some of you are all "urgh, noisy, do not want!"Why do I get the feeling you're talking to me? :P I'll admit, I'm not a fan of the "random screeching" approach to music-making, but I can be ( ... )
