Well, a :P or a lol probably wouldn't have hurt... certainly a j/k would have been appropriate.

The internet doesn't carry tone so, while it seemed clear to some (and yourself) that your comment was a joke, it's also pretty easy to see it coming off as really snide... which is how it was taken by the journal owner.

The more you know.

Maybe if I'd gone with a different icon...I dunno.

Basically, you did nothing to indicate it was a joke. When poking fun at a potentially very sensitive situation, it's pretty necessary to indicate that you're attempting humor. It may still fall flat, but people will at least generally acknowledge you meant no malice.

i have no idea. it's clear there are way too many complex dynamics in what is going for me to get a clue...but that person really over-reacted.

hi zuma January 12 2010, 08:05:10 UTC

that could have happened to me as well. (probably has even, often.) anybody. everybody. (at some time er nother.)
yeah, sure, it's like other commenters have said, but wisdom's easier when it regards others' circumstance. i appreciate you feel stung, and the other guy too. i will say that, like me, he talks a lot. heh. i'll also say he forgot "no worries". [*koff*] maybe rob *is* god, who knows. what *can* one say to that? i'll also say, true tho it be but 'if it helps': you're okay in my book. far as that goes. (it's a big book.)

i'd say reply back and say 'gee, i'm sorry.'

lastly, again, i don't think you're dumb. quite the opposite, most certainly. goes without saying.

pondering at the ponder pond works so well cause the water's so still and all...

and so on.

i'll shut up now.

Prior to all this I did not, to the best of my knowledge, know Rob. Con folk I've known lots of them but not always by their given name.

I make a slight distinction between 'joke' and 'being silly'. A moot point but still.

Thanks for no axe. Axe bad. Fear de axe.

The poster's response was way out of line and seems to indicate some personal problem with you, rather than with your comment in this instance.

which is odd as she and I have never really had a problem before this

Well... it's also possible that she does have a problem with you and just never let on before now.

That reeks of duplicity and I just can't see her that way.
