Well, I did do the whole 8 months in Central America thing. Plus that weird 8 days in Peru in my first incarnation as a corporate slave when I had 1 week of vacation. But I have never been to Europe at all, and I have covered very little ground as far as the world is concerned. I've seen a lot of a little isthmus between two big landmasses, and not much more.

You drive 11,000 every other weekend! You have probably several tens of thousands of photos of places I have never seen. La bufadora or whatever it is called. 650,381,4452 miles of desolate highway. And MOOSE. Do not forget the moose. I am typing like a drunkard. Time for bed.

101 things was too much so you've decided to do 851... I am highly amused.

And in awe.

The 101 list feels like a "to do" list to me. This is a lot more fun. I don't think there's any way in hell I'll get to all of them, but I can try.

That is such an exciting goal! It makes me want to do this too... I don't know how far I've gotten. Maybe we should make a list... because it's tempted me to do so ( ... )

I'd like to get some folks together for Yosemite. I mentioned I have never been there and there has been some "oooh, I'd like to go some time!" talk. I am the type to ask "How about next week?" because why not do the things you want?
Yay inspiration!

See most of the time it comes down to being strapped for cash. Though if you do go to Yosemite next week - i have a feeling there will still be ice skating. LOL. there will be a decent amount of hikes that will be closed, but yosemite in the winter is just as beautiful! I''m hoping to cross of Statue of Liberty sometime this year. That will be nice... but at least now this will be a motive to, "When I visit a new country, what shall I do?" :D

Ironically, I have been to Yosemite (more than once), the Statue of Liberty, and the Grand Canyon. I'm pretty sure I've been to the Redwood National Forest, too.

Ironically because I'm not the travelin' type.

I've also been to Rome, Florence, Naples, Siena, Venice, Vatican City and Pompeii in Italy (though it was hard for me to figure out if I've actually been to the specific UNESCO sites in those cities).

I walked past the Tower of London (but didn't go in), I've been to Liverpool, and I spent some time in the "Old and New Towns of Edinburgh" (Scotland).

Why this particular list, though? What's the criteria? Who chooses the locations?

Many of the places on the list are cultural heritage sites, and thus fairly available to most people. You don't need to be a super adventurer to get there or to have heard of it. Some of them are natural sites and really unknown. For example the sites in Costa Rica are not really spots that tourists visit as much as some other sites there, and not ones I heard touted much by the countries tourism board. Belize, on the other hand, makes a big deal of the fact that the Blue Hole is a natural heritage site (in fact it's the entire reef, not just the hole) and this is where I first heard about it ( ... )

Warsaw's Old Town (Stary Miasto) is a unesco site. And there's an Irish pub just outside the city walls.
