It is, yes! I was far too young and teenager-ish ("Politics?! America?! The White House?! Booooring!") to watch it when it was first on, but this summer I've finally got to it on my ridiculously long to-watch list. That and friends constantly raving about it helped.
The best part about this show was my sophomore year of high school when I made friends with a guy named Josh Lyman. It was the best frakkin' day ever. And of course, he was a fan too.
"In Excelsis Deo is by far one of the best Christmas episodes I've ever seen." - I very, very much agree with this.
And now you have to watch Sports Night and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Must watch.
OH! And watch a show called The Good Guys because Bradley Whitford is hilarious.
...And I just bought S1 and S2 of The West Wing because amazon has each for 18 instead of a whopping 60 dollars. Muahaha. I'm happy.
I think the 2nd episode of The Good Guys is much stronger, but only because Bradley and Colin's characters were split up. It's a nice summer show, but I keep expecting Bradley's character to be all Josh Lyman, haha. And instead he's given lines like, "we've gotta go get medicine for the computer machine!"
And YES. Psych. It's pretty much my favorite USA show. Granted, I love all of that network's original shows. "Hello, my name is Gus, and I have a deep sea of jealousy for a tiny little boy cat."
I was going to ask if if was your first time watching it, but the comments answered that for me. I will admit, I've been in love with the West Wing since it first aired, and I think rather than endless Friends & CSI re-runs, I'd much rather have ER and The West Wing repeats on. I rank TWW as probably the best TV show ever
Yes to your comments about Josh and CJ. And Donna. CJ is who I want to be when I grow up :) If I ever do, that is. I frequently wanted Bartlet to be real, which is testament to the writing / Martin Sheen.
I'm now eyeing my DVDs longingly (all 7 seasons, gathering dust but looking pretty on a shelf) and thinking maybe in the absence of anything else, a re-watch may be in order this summer.

I bought Studio 60 yesterday! Unfortunately I'm going to have to acquire Sports Night by other means as it's not out in the UK.
I must admit that the first episode of The Good Guys wasn't quite to my taste, even with The Whitford Factor. I've started watching Psych, though!
