Books and Horses

My To Be Read List is so long, I'm coping by revisiting Marguerite Henry. She's the reason I get at least one horse calendar every year. My first introduction to her was an old copy of Misty of Chincoteague that my Dad had as a kid. Totally and completely fell in love with her writing style, and her books launched me into an obsession with horses ( Read more... )

Aww, Marguerite Henry was a part of my childhood too! I looooove Misty of Chincoteague!! But gosh, I haven't thought about it for ages! What a nice childhood flashback! :) I hope you enjoy your rereading! <3

I think lots of us have dreamed about owning a horse, but only a lucky few actually succeed! *sigh*

That's me, just your friendly neighborhood flashback provider. :)

Oh, yes, that's very true. Most of us just have to be content with watching Flicka over and over. :)

Aw, I loved that book/film as a kid. I always wanted a horse.

So the film was good? I'd never seen it, or even known it existed until I looked it up earlier today.

Hee, I guess pretty much everybody on my f-list has wanted a horse. :D

Pretty cute. I think it wasn't a *real* professional film so not all of the acting is the best (you don't really notice that until you rewatch it as an adult) but it's nicely done and there's some pretty scenery. (:

Hehe,.I used to climb into the horse stalls at the fair as a little kid to "hug" the horses and my mom would always have to apologize and drag me out. :P

Hee, that's all I ask, so long as it was shot on a location that worked. :)

Awwwww, I don't blame you for trying to hug the horses at all! Probably would have done the same thing, or wanted to.

(BTW, LOUIS! *flails* I don't talk about vampires much here, but I recently read The Vampire Lestat and LOVED IT.)

I've never heard of Marguerite Henry before: I think she isn't translated in Italian. But now I'm curious about her: I love horses too and so I think I might like her!

The fact that not all books are translated is one of the few things I resent about books in general. How many books am I missing out on in French, Italian, Russian, etc. because they aren't translated?

I think you'll love her stuff! She wrote children's books in the 1950's and 1960's mostly, so it has a very quaint, darling style to it, with lots of love and deep feeling. And the pictures are lovely, too!

Awww, thank you so much, that makes me feel very happy! My sketches are all right. :)

Yay, so glad you enjoyed it! I think it's a movie you can never, ever get tired of watching.
