Bearing Gifts

Another project I started some time ago: adapting Cyc´s story "Bearing Gifts". The character design is always the easiest part, the storytelling is anything but and the whole thing always comes to a screeching halt when architecture is involved. Well, I´m about half way into the story, some architectural inspirations have been found, I´ve redrawn a ( Read more... )

Wow! Such splendid work, Eve! As a Diana fan, I approve. :)

The gender-swapped World's Finest ought to be fun.

I think your rendering of the Greek vase is exquisite.

I was a BIG fan of Wondy, Batgirl, and the Linda Danvers Supergirl when I was a girl! :)

P.S. Still am! ;)

Wooo! Thank you!

At first it was tough getting into drawing girls again. Especially Diana, I didn´t want her to look too cute, but of course not too masculine either.

This summer I found some of the Silver Age Legion of Superheroes issues my Mom threw away ages ago. Saturn Girl! Shrinking Violet! Phantom Girl! and of course, Supergirl! It brought back memories with such an intensity it was staggering. My own little Marcel Proust moment!

Ah, yes, the Legion! I enjoyed those old stories very much. There was a lot of 'girl power' back in the day, more than people realize.

Did you see the variant covers by Darwyn Cooke with a Golden/Silver Age flourish? Scans_Daily over on Dreamwidth had an entry with the covers and they're just delightful! :)

Absolutely!!! In the first years of the Legion there was a wonderful balance of power and prominence between the female and male Legionnaires. It seems to me that the stories in the late 60ies tried to adjust to their audience, who were no longer children but teens, by introducing romance and high concept, and that was IMO when the ladies were thrown under the bus.
Do you remember the story where Supergirl refuses to compete for leader of the Legion because she doesn´t want to run against her boy friend Brainiac5? Way to go. :(

I saw those Darwin Cooke covers! They are awesome! Darwyn Cooke somehow manages to make his characters look so mature but still totally attractive. And the optimism they radiate is uplifting.
I love the ´tec cover (no surprise, eh?), the Batman/Superman cover is so much fun, the Catwoman cover is great, and oh! the Superman cover! So much love!! He even has his red undies!! :D

Awww, thank you!

The vase was a blast :) I´ve always loved greek art, so looking at all those amazing works of ancient art and trying to emulate the style was great fun. :)

Your work is absolutely beautiful. Have you ever thought of monetizing one of your projects on a site such as Patreon.com?

Thank you very much, I´m very glad you like it!

I´ve never given it much mind, to be honest. Since I´m playing with someone else´s toys it would probably be a bit problematic anyway. I like sharing my work and I´m happy when I get feedback, but I´m also glad to be independent to pursue whatever I fancy.

Btw, I´m following the new Greek Gods RPG. I´m not allowed to comment, evidently, but I´m reading along and enjoying it muchly!
