FYI, Sarah's Jinjur blog has recently switched over to Sarah's Colorkitten blog. Same blog, new name and design.

Some more Beasts of Burden stuff -- Comic Book Resources ran a piece on the Dark Horse panel which includes some stupid things I said that others haven't included in their write-ups of stupid things I've said. The Quarter Bin's coverage Read more... )

Additional thumbs-up for THE SERIAL GARDEN... I grew up on Joan Aiken, after reading THE WOLVES OF WILLOUGHBY CHASE.

Scary news about cutbacks everywhere.

For the 90,000th time, I wish I'd planned my NYCC jaunt better. I'll have to catch up with you at MoCCA.

Let the Right One In was amazing. Easily the happiest creppy film Ive ever seen.

Have you any desire to see the Wrestler? It is really good and pretty damn accurate. Theres only one part that doesnt ring true, and its not that big of a deal.

Yeah, I saw the David video last week and cracked up. That said, I'm like you: I don't think I'd do that to my kid, but I'm sure glad David's dad did!

Oh, speaking of my girl, here she is in one of many outfits that you and Sarah gave us, and which she is finally fitting into! (Jordana is a peanut.)

Holy cripes, where does the time go?

Happy everything to you guys. Jordana looks awesomely cute.

Now back to my regularly scheduled meanness.

Sarah from The Quarterbin here--I saw that you linked to us and wanted to confess that I was the one who covered the Dark Horse panel and referred to you as "the writer". I suck at remembering names and didn't properly hear yours, so rather than get it wrong I just called you "the writer", which, looking back, seems a little silly.

I hope you won't hold it against me too much, because I thought you were awesome, and I really want to read Beasts of Burden now! Anyway, regardless, thank you for helping to make that panel quite entertaining.

Sarah -- I wasn't insulted in the least. I actually thought it was great that you had no idea who I was but were interested in checking out the series. That works for me. I'm just glad you didn't refer to me as "the Milk and Cheese guy", "failed television writer" or, "low-rung comic book semi-talent". Those I don't love.

FYI -- and anyone else's -- the first four Beasts stories are in the Dark Horse Book of Hauntings/Witchcraft/etc anthologies. Some libraries have some of them, I've actually seen them in our local branch. I'm also guessing some folks have uploaded them illegally, and they may be viewed and read illegally. Doesn't kill me, if some folks like the material enough to buy some books sometime. I see it as an ad for the series, myself, you can't stop the internet, so try to work with it. Of course, I'm not the publisher, this is my two cents.

Or, you could roll some drunks and use the dough to buy the DHC books on Amazon. Also fine by me.

Glad you enjoyed whatever I said on the panel. Thanks for attending and not

Ha. I haven't heard any one use the roll in that context since the '93. Good one, Milk and Cheese guy.
