Fantasy or no, I still find Twilight's gender politics oppressive and the series eminently mockable, but this is a pretty good essay about "Our Cultural Discomfort With Objectifying Robert Pattinson," which boils down to: "we are used to seeing straight men’s goofy, unrealistic sexual fantasies" and yet freak the fuck out about girls' goofy,
