The latest on Delilah

I haven't talked about my guitar lessons recently, not in any detail. There's been a reason for that. I didn't go last week, lol. But I went today, and felt quite nervous about it actually. I haven't had the time to practice that I would've liked, and in spite of being able to finger my scales with ease, I always get nervous in front of Scott ( Read more... )

Mmmm...I can improvise singing, but to be asked to play? Yeah, I can imagine how scary that was for you! Somebody saying "Improvise now..Go!"....yeah, I freeze in those moments, too.

I'm not that free-spirited I think. I used to panic when I first started to act, too, and it wasn't until I'd done it for awhile that I could actually do anything in improvs in rehearsal. I think it's a control issue for me.

I really need to work on that, lol.

I'm going to ask for lessons for xmas. I got a gorgeous guitar two years ago and I've barely touched it, so applaud you for being so dedicated.

Maybe we'll get to jam one day :)

You have to learn! It's so much fun, and your guitar deserves better than to be collecting dust. :)

That would scare me too. Especially if my teacher was someone that I wanted to think well of me. It may be less scary when ti isn't sprung on you though.

That's what I'm hoping. And when I have more confidence in the notes.

I'm impressed and jealous on the progress you've been making. I should really looking into a teacher myself since it seems there is only so much you can teach yourself. Or so says the guy with his guitar collecting dust in the corner.

I keep meaning to pick it up but without direction, I just tend to do the same things over and over again. I think fingering scales is something I should work on, but again feel I would take to it better if under supervision than blindly tackling it on my own.

The part where you were asked to just jump in...I'd freeze too, totally, even with the vague knowledge I do have.

So in other words, I should get caught up to you soon. How else are we going to start that band?

Do you have a book that you're learning from? Following structured lessons within a book might be an idea, too, if you can't do the lessons. Though, I'll admit, I've learned far more from Scott than I have from the two books I have. I use them primarily as reference when I can't remember something he showed me.

*hugs* I think I would have frozen too. I don't do well at improvisation. But good for you for being willing to try.

I only fail if I never try. Of course, that's a motto that has a tendency to get ignored when I'm truly terrified...
