I'm not really sure what you're asking. I mean, are you looking for help figuring out where you should go, or...?

United Kingdom and Ireland would be more expensive than it used to be in 2007. Mostly due to crisis and euro exchange rate.

I would suggest Denmark, it is cheaper than Ireland, but you would not have language problem - nearly all Danes speak English. Summer month are best for visit. Copenhagen is a great place to visit for any age.

If you prefer something warmer and cheaper, I would suggest Portugal. Summer month could be too hot though. From March to May is my favourite.

I really wanted to try Scotland or Wales though I know with the economic crisis its probably a bit out of our budget but definitely something in my mind.

I had never thought of Denmark. I really should look into that. I know a bit about it but never really considered it. Thanks a bunch!

Im not a terrible fan of the heat so Portugal would probably be too much for me, but Ill definitely keep that in mind especially if its on the cheaper end.

It sounds like you're looking for general suggestions about something special that might not be too expensive? It's hard to know without more information about your interests and your budget -- "inexpensive" means vastly different things to different people -- but if it were me, I'd go to Scotland in August for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. But that's because I love theater.

No problem; it's hard to know how posts come across sometimes. Based on your additional information, I would definitely recommend looking into going to the Fringe. It's an amazing experience; tons of cheap and even free theater, and Edinburgh itself is wonderful (and full of history *g*). You can get inexpensive private rooms through Hostelling Scotland (book early, but it's WAY early right now so you're good), and Scotland in general is cheaper than England. I think it's easily do-able within your budget, and that includes having the money to go to the shows. Or for another option, Wales is also cheaper than England, especially North Wales, which is beautiful and full of castles.

Good luck, and have fun planning!

Two really wonderful and very easy, though maybe not cheap, places are the south of France and Tuscany in Italy.

Cheaper but not so easy is Latin America--Antigua, Guatemala, is wonderful, and so is Oaxaca, Mexico (away from the border it's not so dangerous).

I don't know if you'd be interested in a cruise, but there are theme cruises (including history, theater, etc.) that would let you combine a getaway vaction with your interests. Plus it's great value for the money.
