Traveling with Mom

Hello,

I was thinking of taking a trip with my best friend this year, but I really want to take another trip with my mother. We took a trip to Ireland in 2007 and while it was a blast, we definitely didnt due too much. I was battling severe depression and really did not want to do anything. I want to do something special but not really wipe out our expenses. My brother paid for us last time and he is having a baby girl in April so we will have to pay for this ourselves. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how to go about this, maybe where to start? Im really open for going anywhere though I have this thing where I do not want to go to a country I have been before until I have seen a bit more of the world (I have already been to Ireland, England, France and Italy). Thanks!

If it helps Im going to be 23 this year and she will be 61.

Edit: Guess I should have been a bit ore specific. Sorry about that, though I do appreciate the quick responses. Im looking more for places to go that would be relatively inexpensive (nothing more than about $4000 for the two of us for flight and accommodations) for a mother and daughter. I had heard about trips that cater to mothers and daughters but did not know much about them. Is that anything anyone has experienced or heard about? Or, would this be something better suited to going our own way? I would looking for maybe a week or something. Nothing too long.

This trip is more just a get away. We usually do little things like Cape Cod or Maine (We live in Boston, MA - USA) but I want something a bit more special before I move out of the house on my own. Its more to just get away and enjoy a new place. Personally, I am a huge history nerd and theatre buff so if that helps. My mom is more along for the ride and willing to do whatever. Also, I would prefer something that wouldn't be too much of a language barrier but thats not terribly important.

I know its a bit general but its very early stages so any help at all, even just a mention of place would be wonderful!
Thanks!
