In the process of cleaning my camera's sensor, I've discovered a worrying problem. It seems that there is a small air bubble in the low-pass filter which cuts out infrared light and protects the sensor. This bubble casts a shadow on the sensor, especially at smaller apertures and with wide angle lenses. As such, I'm going to have to send it in

Which, of course, leads to the inevitable conclusion that as a professional photographer I should have a backup. For now, my backup is a film camera. It's unlikely that I'll be able to afford a second digital body any time soon, but we'll see how long the 30D is out of commission.
