Possible photo post problems

In the process of cleaning my camera's sensor, I've discovered a worrying problem. It seems that there is a small air bubble in the low-pass filter which cuts out infrared light and protects the sensor. This bubble casts a shadow on the sensor, especially at smaller apertures and with wide angle lenses. As such, I'm going to have to send it in ( Read more... )

Indeed. It's not the end of the world, I do have another (old, compact) digital camera and three film cameras, but the 30D is my main tool these days. Hopefully the warranty repair won't take too long, I'm planning on emailing the Canon rep for my area to see if he can expedite the process at all.

Which, of course, leads to the inevitable conclusion that as a professional photographer I should have a backup. For now, my backup is a film camera. It's unlikely that I'll be able to afford a second digital body any time soon, but we'll see how long the 30D is out of commission.
