I've been working with the DFW Pug Rescue for a little bit now toward getting a pug, and here's my new baby! Sable Faustus Hale, at your service. She's been home for all of four days now, and seems to be settling in really well. She gets along with the kids, and got over a slightly rocky start with the cat quickly as well. She looooooooooooooooves ( Read more... )

Neat! I can get a better appreciation for her now. She's as cute as a Shar-pei and looks to be as playful as a puppy.

Oh, she's definitely playful. We were at Patrick's last night, and she was in pug heaven with five whole people paying attention to her. :-D

Meep! PUG!

She looks a lot like my Spider!

Pugs are really neat dogs.

Try getting her something red to play with - Spider LOVED red toys. (I know, I know, dogs are supposedly colorblind....but she knew which toys were red and which ones were not red, even if they were the same kind of toy!) As for food - have you tried Science Diet? Every pug I've ever known has done really well with Science Diet. It's often the only kibble they'll touch, but the upside is that it's good for them.

:)

And keep an eye on her eyes! From the pics, it doesn't look like she's got a very severe bulge, which is VERY good, but it's a good idea to check her eyes and vision routinely. They're prone to cataracts. :(

Smooch her on the head for me!

That's one thing I always hated about school. They always said dogs were colorblind but the never explained it. Dogs are red-green color blind and can tell the difference between quite a few colors.

Unless the other toys were greenish, Spider can probably tell the difference.

Sweet! Thanks for the linkie. :) More random trivia that I will probably never use in real life, but is still incredibly neat to know.

Spider was one neat dog. :)

And very vocal about not getting her way. She finally seems to be settling down in that regard, but she is definitely a mouthy dog. :-D
