Despite me not being a fan of censorship, LJ does have the right to make its own rules. It is a privately owned company, and a great many of users are using free accounts. I can say that I think some of their recent censorship actions are pretty jerkish (and I do think and say that) but I won't deny their right to make their own rules in their own sandbox.
Let's say that I run a site that people can join up with, but for some reason, I don't want anyone ever using the word "dance" or writing about dancing because I can't dance and talking about dancing offends me. It would be stupid but I would be allowed to do it legally, and people would have a choice in whether they joined up on my site or not.
Basically, I don't agree with what they do, but they have the right to do it.
