Seattle is a great city (well ... I think, I've never been there, heh). I'm actually finding this area of the midwest to be pretty okay (though I still will never get the obsession with biscuits and sausage gravy ... it looks like congealed white pus to me), so Chicago or Ann Arbor? I haven't been to Chicago yes (I'm supposed to go soon), but what I've seen of Ann Arbor is really awesome. I'm not sure what UofM's MFA programs are like but overall they are a very good school.
My advice to anyone looking into grad school has been to think about what areas you are most interested in, and then find people who work/write on them, and then locate where they teach ... then evaluate those programs, and if things match up, it's a good candidate. Of course, that's a lot easier said than done.
Then again, I remember how you feel about cold climates ... ;) Personally I kind of like winter, but it is kind of brutal over here. Not a lot of snow in my area, but it's very cold and there's a lot of ice.
Personally, I'd stay in Boston, or go to San Fransisco, with the possibility of Las Vegas.
First, I love New England, love having seasons and unpredictable weather, the big city that lets you stay anonymous but still have a more comfortable feeling thatn NYC, I love that dirty water. Boston is a good fit for meSan Fransisco is just a beautiful city, with a mostly lovely climate (except for the fog), and pretty laid-back people (except the gangs

Hey, we haven't talked in a long long time...but for some reason this post caught my eye. UCLA has some great grad programs (though I don't know what you're thinking about going into). LA is a really hard city to live in though. You need a car, for sure. However, it is also a really satisfying city to live in. It takes a long time to like it, but once you start to feel comfortable here, you really understand the great parts about it (and the not so great parts
