I just watched Savchenko/Szolkowy's FS from last season at random and I realized how much I miss watching figure skating - not just the men, but all disciplines. I am just a bit sad that so many of the skaters I like won't be competing in the coming season. I need to make sure to watch at least some of the Grand Prix if possible this fall. Figure

I don't know much about that movie but wasn't didn't the whole drama stem from the fact that the characters' culture was crucial to the story? It is kind of sad that the lead roles were given to white actors; I don't see why that would make the movie more "accessible" to a wider audience.

Well, I don't know, in the cartoon I guess they were Eskimos and in the movie they're white, and the evil guys are kind of ethnic, and the main character is supposed to be Asian (people say - but it's a cartoon, so idk), while in the movie it's a white boy. I don't see why having white actors makes the movie more accessible, either, to me it doesn't make any difference if they're white, black, or yellow.

I think that for an American audience having white people in the lead roles might make the film accessible? I have known people here who won't watch movies where the main characters are people of color because they "wouldn't understand it" anyway. I'm sure there are people like that everywhere though. I do think it's kind of sad for the non-white kids to yet again see the heroes of the movie as white. It would be cool to see more heroes of color in films - I know I would have liked to see some when I was a kid.
But anyway, I've read the movie isn't that great anyway? I'm not a fan of that director. Although the special effects look cool.
Anyway I've been craving going to the movies - I actually went twice already this week and am thinking of going today again. Or maybe I'll go shopping - I think there's an H&M nearby. :D
