Hi there, winter.

I spent a week at home in the Czech Republic. It snowed and even though it melted instantly, it was still nice that I got to see first snow already. Half of the country is experiences a snow-calamity, however - in some areas, they already have like 100 cm of snow. Way to go, winter ( Read more... )

Sasha Cohen withdrew due to a supposed injury. I'm not sure I completely buy that, but okay.

Ok... I'm not sure I believe that, either. I'm more inclined towards thinking that she simply got intimidated by facing both Yu-Na and Mao in her very first competition. But who knows.

Thanks for the link. :)

Tomas and Adam are so adorable; poor Brian is a headcase (also, has his skating become really flat lately? He didn't used to bore me); this year is going to be *fun* for men!

Re Sasha - I think I agree with Jenny Kirk, over here. Sasha had this to say for herself (if you can get past Phil Hersh's total jackassery).

Haha, for me, Brian's skating has always been rather flat and boring, so I can't tell much difference. But, having just watched his free skate, it looked to me like he didn't actually do much in the program aside from the required elements and some stroking and crossovers inbetween. I mean, I know that the COP doesn't leave all that much space for creativity, but this FS just looked... empty. I can't even recall the step sequences and those I usually notice in Brian's skating. It's possible that that was the case because he was so distracted by the messed-up jumps.

Jenny Kirk does have a point. And well, okay, at least Sasha gives us some background on this. Who knows, really.
But god, Phil Hersh, could you be any more of an asshole and hypocrite?

See, to me, Brian looks like he's not having fun at all (and I've always been well aware of his artistic limitations *g*). It was like that at worlds, too. I think he's burnt out, poor guy. Might just be the jumps, though. I'll admit to not having noticed most of the LP due to being totally distracted by his ridiculous sparkly nipple.

Phil Hersh makes me stabby :-(
