Mawwiage is what Bwings us Togethaw

Yesterday saw the union of cdwfs & zorker in Malibu. They did me the great honor of asking me to officiate. This being my fourth, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. Even the things that didn't go smoothly went smoothly. As with Isildur in the aftermath of the Battle of Gladden Fields, the ring-bearer was betrayed by the one ring (but not the ( Read more... )

It was a beautiful ceremony. The reception had the level of wierdness I would expect from Lesley and Cort, too :). I'll have pictures up once I go throuh the 200 or so I took.

I confess that the closest I got to misty-eyed was much later, when Lesley and her father danced to Kermit's Rainbow Connection.

You too, eh?

It was a lovely wedding. Kudos, again, on your ministerial performance.

I forgot to mention that you were a most efficient officiant.

Ditto here. I was actually surprised at how much emotion was evoked by a simple song sung by Kermit the Frog. I'm guessing that partially it was my own fondness for the muppets and remembering how I felt when I first saw them on the big screen. But mostly I think it was because this was such a surprising departure from the "standard" wedding playlist that it clearly meant a lot personally to Lesley and her father -- and somehow that was communicated by them without a word being said.

I would add that segueing from "Rainbow Connection" directly into Bon Jovi's "You Give Love A Bad Name" was a stroke of brilliance.

I've been wondering who zorker was for forever (cdwfs also, but less so since he shows up in comments less frequently). Now I know! Thanks.

I'm glad to hear the ceremony went so well.

Great ceremony, wonderful location, tasty food, good music, great friends, including Brian and Pat, who brought me Guinness as well as allowed me to sup from their flasks (I keep forgetting to bring mine).

The worst part of the evening was spilling sangria all down my front. At first, I felt uncomfortable in my beach bum attire, but after vigorously soaking and scrubbing purple stains on my shirt and pants, I think it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
