Hey, you! Yeah, you, in the parking lot! I'm not sure why you don't know this, but allow me to remind you - the rules apply to you, too! Maybe your mother raised you wrong, or maybe you imagine you're special or important, but you're not. See that sign that says "No Parking?" DON'T PARK THERE. See those pretty white lines? PARK THERE. And ( Read more... )

We have more cars than spaces and a valet service to make up the difference, but that doesn't stop people from parking on my side of the parking lot in illegal and BLOCKING spaces. And our office doesn't seem to care. Some day when I get to work late I'm going to be tempted to do the same, but I have too much respect for the coworker who'd have to maneuver around my car.

And as far as the parking goes, no good deed goes unpunished: one time when I actually WAS blocked and couldn't tell I dinged a car and even though they weren't even parked in a space my insurance still was the one that had to pay. I still see red about that: you can park illegally and the other guy has to pay for hitting you? Blah.

Oh ya, penning people in is SO SMART.

I remember once in Philly I went out to a club, got back to my car around 3:00 a.m., and I was blocked in. I stood there for 10 minutes leaning on my horn in a residential area, because I had no physical way of getting out. The guy finally came down and moved his car, but oh well - not my fault the neighbors hate him now. (After that I left a "DO NOT BLOCK" note on my car every time I parked there.)

One time, a fellow parked in a handicap spot. No tag, just parked there. He was about to RUN in the store when I stopped him. My mother was with me and she WAS handicapped. I asked him to move. He said no. I told him then the only solution to this would be to break his legs to make him handicapped.

He moved.
