I can so imagine this situation. :D Must have happened a couple of times in families with kids of that age, I imagine.

I know that the first time I read "The Wind in the Willows" (at about eight), what I mostly focused on was the "poop-poop" part of the story. I still have the sense of humor of a teenaged boy sometimes... as you can probably tell by this short! :P
