Well, I figured he'd already showed up in several other stories, so the short that used your actual prompt should show some part of him that doesn't get seen so often. I did mention, briefly, that he's in recovery and is tracking his sobriety, so I thought that would be an interesting angle.
Being a juicer -- or any kind of an addict -- is, I think, a difficult life. Oakapple is indeed extremely fortunate to have a good support system; he'll make it. :)
The juice pales in comparison to family life Oakapple, leave the juice! Sounds like a great day the family have planned for him, and I hope he stays away from the juice and enjoys the celebrations in and of themselves.
My understanding about any type of addiction is the cravings never go away, and certain things can trigger stronger cravings than others. I'm not in recovery myself, but I have heard and read a lot about it, and I know that anniversaries are particularly hard. But Oakapple is doing all the right things, including finding a meeting, and I'm quite sure that with his excellent support network, he'll be much better tomorrow. (And probably slightly smug about getting through the day, too.)
