[EDIT: Ditched pricey-assed Lulu for something much more reasonable, bam!]
Some stuff...
I recently finished illustrating a story I wrote about four years
ago
of the same name.
Fun times, fun times.
While I've been working on it to make an illustrated book of it,
the story has already been published twice. Once, in the anthology
Alone in the Dark, edited by
was1. And a second time via podcast(!)
again, courtesy of Will. I suspect he likes the story, because he's
asked each time to showcase it in these ways, and for that I'm eternally
grateful.
Anyway,
the podcast version is exciting because the fellow giving
the dramatic reading, PeterKatt, did a really, really good job, in my
opinion. It gave me chills to hear my own words like that, and to
have them understood and interpreted so well(!) Go listen!
But all along I wanted to illustrate it myself. And I was chipping away
at it for months. So it's done and done now :) I even included the sketches
and some process work in the back, so this is kind of a "loldirector's cut".
The book is available here via CreateSpace.com. I consider this kind of a minor Big Deal for me, since it's so very hard
for me to maintain focus on anything protracted. I have a nice little
sense of accomplishment now.
I was working on this a while ago, and I know that I posted what was already
done before, but I'm going to show it all again here so that there is just
one complete post about it. First is the sketchwork and concept/character
designs, then the images in sequence. There are some that are just little
vignette images that are meant to sit with the text, not stand alone as full
page illustrations, etc. Those should be obvious.
