Yeah, I know how you feel about Supernatural. I quite like Castiel as a character and even so I think it's such a waste to have him be the one who lives and becomes a regular when all the women and characters of colour are cast aside. I really miss the show it was in Seasons 1-2 - there were good things in season 4, but they were so heavily overshadowed by the bad things hanging around from season 3 that the bitter taste is still tainting my enjoyment.

I'm giving this season one episode to turn me around.

Title: "Five Letters Eden Never Wrote to Anne-Marie"

Feedback: You really captured Eden's conflicted feelings toward Anne-Marie's success.

This is basically a "which character played by Michelle Rodriguez would I most like you to talk about" meme for me.

Title: The Lucky Ones

Feedback: Oh yeah! That's exactly what I would have done if I found a spare vial of antivirus. I love this half-healed Rain and her anger and insight and I love the fierce working bond Alice and Rain develop.

gosh now I almost want to write this myself except that I'd have to watch the movie again and I found it terrifying.

My goodness! I never knew you were such a Miami Vice fan, but the moment I began reading "Just Two of the Boys", I loved it. The nuanced way you really get the challenges Gina and Trudy face as the only women on an all-male squad, how frustrated they get having to go undercover as prostitutes every single episode, and how one chooses to speak out and risk everything, and the other keeps silent, privileging her career over her personal feelings. Well, I teared up, I'll tell you that.

thank you so so much for writing this. :D

Hey thanks! I tried to think of something you hadn't done yet, but was definitely within the realm of something you might do, or at least might interest you. Gina and Trudy's stories are ones that have intrigued me for a long time, and I could slash them so easily it's not funny. There are so many intriguing facets of gender and race and friendship and career, all of which need to be filtered through this lens of 80s setting and--

Uh, sorry. That up there was supposed to simply read: Thank you very much for responding. I already love the first and last lines, and my brain is happily filling in the bits in between.

After reading up on it in order to write even the little bit I did, I've decided I need to watch Miami Vice at some point. Gina and Trudy are really interesting and I'd love to know the source material and be able to read and write fic. So thanks for converting me!

Castiel gets better imo, but there are 2 specific storylines in the second half of last season that you will HATE based on the whole sexist and racist thing they seem to have going on. And though I can definitely see your point on that, I do still love the show and I think last season was really good. I was highly amused that at one point they actually address Sam/Dean slash.

It's really too bad Castiel couldn't have been played by, like, Denzel or something.

P.S. True Blood is fab.
